TMHS provides care in a ‘Mixed Ward’. That is, we provide care for patients who need to stay overnight and for those requiring treatment on a day-stay only basis:
- with medical and surgical conditions
- participating in the Transition Care Program (1 x allocated bed)
In compliance with the Safe Patient Care (Nurse to Patient and Midwife to Patient Ratios) Amendment Act 2019, we roster nurses according to the following ratios (Last updated 01/08/2025):
- Morning Shift (7:00am – 3:30pm) = 1 nurse : 6 patients (1 nurse in charge)
- Afternoon Shift (2:30pm – 10:30pm) = 1 nurse : 7 patients (1 nurse in charge)
- Night Shift (10:30pm – 7:15am) = 1 nurse : 10 patients

Based on analysis of occupancy for the year 2024, the expected occupancy of the Acute Mixed Ward is 39%.
TMHS also has a 15 bed High Level Residential Aged Care Facility (Mount View). The nursing roster for Mount View is as follows (Last updated 01/08/2025):
- Morning Shift (7:00am – 3:30pm) = 1 nurse : 7 residents (1 nurse in charge)
- Afternoon Shift (2:30pm – 10:30pm) = 1 nurse : 8 residents (1 nurse in charge)
- Night Shift (10:30pm – 7:15am) = 1 nurse : 15 residents
